Firstly, let me apologise for the lack of mid-month journal. Sometimes I have a lot on at work and life and got a bit overrun. I did however read good old Bridget again and want to know WHO ELSE DID?

WARNING, PAST THIS POINT THERE WILL BE SPOILERS, SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILT, JUST FAVOURITE THE JOURNAL AND MOVE ON.

Lets Discuss!

  1. How did you find the journal style format of the story? Do you feel it helped expose enough of the characters and setting? Is this a form you would try yourself- either fictional or personal?
  2. What do you think about Bridget? Is she ruled too much by her love life or the independent strong woman she aspires to be?
  3. This first book was first published in the 90's. Is Bridget still a representation of the hapless singleton today? What brings you to your conclusion?
  4. Was there any aspects of this novel you could relate to in your own life? Did anything make you laugh or react strongly (even get annoyed?)?
  5. There have been two films, including the sequel novel "The Edge of Reason", and the final novel "Mad About the Boy" published last year is already in talks. Firstly, if you have seen the films, how well to they relate to the story? And if you were going to cast this film to a new audience, who would play your Bridget, Darcy and Cleaver?
  6. For those who were doing NaNoWriMo or wrote this month- did reading Bridget whilst writing affect/influence your approach to NaNo in any way? If you didn't write, did it affect anything else you did?
Make sure you post your responses on this journal and don't forget to respond to other people's too to continue the discussion!

:star: Don't forget that we have some amazing participants swag for you to win also! Just a reminder we have Head for the Edge, Keep Walking by Kate Tough & Beneath Beautiful by Allison Rushby) (This will be an eBook). Each book will also go into the end of the year's prize basket!

How do you win? Make awesome comments on these journals and make meaningful contributions to the discussion! You can also write a critical review (uploaded as a lit deviation) or fanart, note CRLiterature about it, and get points for these as well.  The team is keeping track of who's doing what so even if you don't win in the month, you will still be considered for the grand booty at the end of the year!

Winner of this month will be announced in the next months book club journals. Make sure you are following CRLiterature to keep updated and you can check out our Book Club Schedule to see what books we're reading next!

It's pretty good, I see Bridget as an adult version of Ginger Foutley : )
