This is a typical example of a BeccaJS shower pondering! The idea of this is to try and bring together as many people as possible all in one journal, but not for the sake of making a big number, but to encourage interaction and share useful tidbits. We often say the "literature community" has drifted apart over the past few years and this is just one attempt to try get people to come back together. It's a little hippy, perhaps a far-fetched idea, which is why I am calling it an "experiment". This could be successful and could be a complete fail- only you guys and your efforts can decide its fate!

:new: Wow! The response for this has been HUGE!!! Thank you so much all of you who have participated! Don't forget to add CRLiterature to your watch as well as replying to all these wonderful comments!

The Experiment

So you may be new to the literature side of deviantART, or you may be one of those long time sufferers who has stuck by for years, pulling your hair out at the reoccurring instances, the questions and even the occasional drama. The idea is to try and get this journal cross posted to as many groups as possible- spreading the word out there that we want to pull the community together where we can. All participants are encouraged to answer the questions below- a little like the "meet and greet" journal we did back in June.

The second bit is a bit like speed dating- individuals can read others' answers and hopefully respond and seek a few watchers who have similar interests or seem like a curious person to watch. We want to enocurage everyone to pick 2-3 new people to watch each and maybe watch back those who add you

The Useful Links!

Because the literature community is one huge messy web, here are a couple of useful places to visit that you may have never heard of before, not visited for a while or just hang around already like a bad smell.

The Groups:

To get your group featured on this list, feature this journal entry on that group and it will be added by me with a short description as to what the group is for!

:iconcrliterature:- This is the main CR-led community hub for literature on dA. The group allows members to post information on their own literature projects/contests etc to share with the community as well as updating of community news, DD roundups and encouragement of community activity (such as this!)

:iconauthors-roundtable:- A new group, only launched last week aiming to support writers in an Arthurian style.

:iconspraying-revolution:- A group which shares artwork with the theme of peace in mind. (Not Lit specific)

:iconthewritinghaven:- An opportunity to request critique and give critique on your writing.

:iconsolutionssanctuary:is a group that aims to dispel myths and cure complaints around deviantART. Each month we'll focus on a different issue using contests, challenges, features, and chat events to highlight the problem and find viable solutions. We hope you'll join us in making deviantART the best it can be!

:iconsuturehq:- A very old school group, featuring some great older pieces.

:iconwriters-workshop:- The first literature group when the group format launched. Writers-Workshop hold regular workshops for all to participate and enjoy!

:iconlyriclub:This is the group for songwriters and other poets, who would like to share their songs, lyrics and poems, or simply read those of others. We have lyrical contests going every month, critique days, a Member of the Month award, interviews, a birthday list, and more!

:iconcommunity-projects:- A group supporting the Community Projects gallery and project awareness throughout deviantART.

:icondevnews:- A group aiming to promote deviantART's Community by spreading information about all current and upcoming events that are relevant to deviants.

:icondawishingwell:a group specifically created to give back to the dA community by granting dA-related wishes such as premium subs, supergroup status, giving items off of wishlists, point donations, features, DD requests, and more!

:iconwordsmiths-guild:- A poetry specific group dedicated to the creation of excellent poetry and our growth as artists.

:iconfighttowrite:- A group of crazy people obsessed with literature ready to share work.

:iconthesimulacrum:The Simulacrum is a library dedicated to the creators of, and appreciators of, snapshot poetry. Poetry that, in no more than ten lines, expresses and captures the blink of an essence.

:iconvicious-verse:- Our Jungian shadow must be expressed so that we may integrate our disparate selves. vicious-verse shall be a safe haven for the dark poetry that festers within us. We must be completely human if we are to know ourselves.

:iconprosepoetry-elegance:The purpose of Prosepoetry-Elegance is to be a showcase for the truly outstanding writing on deviantArt. As such, deviants undergo a screening process for general writing quality before they are allowed to join.

:iconhumanconditions:- A group of serious artists of any media whose work deals with emotions and the condition of being human.

:iconself-publishing:We welcome anyone who has ever wanted to or has ever been published in any publication (yes, your highschool lit mag counts!) If you're working on a poem or story that you would love to see in print, this is the place for you!

:iconincahootsliterature:As the name suggests, this is a group to get together and create literature in a fun way. You don't have to collab to be a part of the group, but we encourage y'all to get in on the fun.

:iconto-our-family: A group featuring work based on family life.

:icontheshelflife:- A group showcasing published deviants and their published pieces!

:icongeorge-orwell-da: A group seeking essays and writing pertaining to the Orwellian tradition (in the good sense), i.e. dystopian satires, essays that deal with society, politics and literature.

:iconthewrittenrevolution: is a long serving, solid group- designed to give dedicated and inspired writers the chance to develop and promote their work through feedback and mutual support.

:icon15-minutes-of-fame: A group for mature writers of all ages who seek to show off their very best work; a place for readers to become acquainted with fame-worthy literature. No drama, no llamas. Just 15 minutes of fame.

:iconpowerfulwriting:- A group aiming to help writers improve and develop their own style of writing by focusing on three main areas: Critiques, prompts, and workshops. Plus, a bit of encouragement through features.

:iconpoeticalcondition: - A group dedicated to all forms of poetry!

1. Where did you come across this article?
 :iconTheWritesMeow:

2. What forms of literature do you write? (be more specific- i.e.. tell us what genre, or styles such as "Eastern Poetry" or "Horror fiction")
Fantasy and creepy/depressing type of horror. Sometimes I'd do satire or random ramblings about life.

3. List 5 words to describe your writing
Dark. Deep. Character-driven. Detailed. Quirky.

4. If you could be a character in any novel you’ve ever read, who would you be and why?
Kragar from the Vlad taltos series by Steven Brust. I can relate to the poor guy - always stuck with the research and more or less invisible, regardless of being a former dragonlord.

5. Which
five people on site are your biggest influences?

7. Which ONE piece of writing in your gallery shows you as a writer best? (JUST ONE, THINK CAREFULLY!)
The Revolving Staircase

8.
Why should other deviants watch you?
Because I'm cool!
Seriously, though, it would help me improve my writing and they would be absolute angels if they'd help. Also, I like it when people read my stories and I promise that they're not bad. :)

9. And a silly one because we need a sense of humour- what is your best pick up line?
.....hey. What you doin'?

10. What one question would you like to ask other members of the literature community?
What got you guys into writing in the first place?
