Hello!
Title is courtesy of my 5 year old
How the hell is it May already? I swear Christmas was yesterday and now we're enjoying British heatwaves (don't get too excited they're not that warm, but a good excuse for a BBQ) and discussing summer holidays!
I think the time flying related to busy-ness I am sure everyone feels. For me juggling between work, family (kids), exercise, house stuff and sometimes I sit down in the evenings and catch up on here! I don't mind the pace but I can see why I failed NaPo! Finding time to write even writing a journal entry can sometimes take a few days of revisiting stash to do so!
Exercise is a big thing for me right now. Since January I started a new series of classes ran by a personal trainer which follow a lot of crossfit principles in terms of strength and circuit based training. I'm really enjoying it despite my hatred for burpees (which I seem to do lots of) and the aches (my legs today are like lead due to last nights squat techniques), but the benefits outweigh everything. Weightloss is a slow beast but it feels good to know I am getting better as each week progresses.
I am still playing Pokemon go- I am usually the passenger in my car as Husband drives so it is easy to pick up lots of stops. I have realised I am only missing about 10 of the original 150 Pokemon now! I have also started playing HQ, but not won any money yet! Is anyone else playing either of these? My HQ code is: beccalicious33 if anyone wants an extra life!
Things going on around here
Some of you may have seen a few journals about changes coming to dA. I think it is inevitable and much needed to be honest. However the changes that are coming are likely to change how we view and use dA, but don't panic! I think the best thing to do is remain curious and open minded. We need to evolve, nobody can say otherwise. As for literature, as long as we can post words, we will be alright, right? I personally am excited with what is to come!
As usual, our literature community are effing fantastic! Please check these things out and hopefully you will find something to do with your weekend! In particular I am excited for the DD discussion chat!
Finally there are some great things up and coming at CRLiterature over the next few months including a few community events which I hope we get a good level of engagement from! Keep your watch on the group and join in!
PLEASE don't forget to note me your DD suggestions (I have been hunting like anything lately so help appreciate!)
Have a lovely weekend all!

Turning Points: A Historical Fiction ContestAND NOW THE WINNERS!!
Everyone did a super great job entering, and this was a very, very tough decision, but we finally settled on three in an order we could all agree upon and wow, you guys. Even if you didn't win, you're getting a feature, and some of you might expect some other things in your future.
CONGRATS to the winners below!
Here was the latest contest
Turning Points
Throughout the history of every culture there have been turning points, divergences where one action leads to a domino effect of others, or what once taken, other actions are no longer an option. Sometimes these turning points are obvious ones: a major battle won, a landmark decision made, a treaty signed, a bomb dropped. But sometimes they're subtle: one road taken instead of another, one soldier's life is spared, one pamphlet is printed that later becomes the basis of something huge.
DD Discussion chat on May 12Up to thirty-one pieces of literature are chosen as Daily Deviations. You may read them every day, or once in a long while, or perhaps you wait and look through the journal compiling them at the end of the month. After reading, you may leave a comment, add it to your favorites, or just move on without doing anything at all. What you probably do not do is discuss your reactions in detail with your fellow Literature Community members.
We are inviting you to do just that with us in #CRLiterature this Saturday, May 12 from 11am-1pm Pacific Time - see what that is in your time zone here. We will be discussing a selection of Literature DDs from the month of April.
Why?
We believe that discussion with friends and peers is

Ok, so what is this magic that appears before your eyes? This magic, brought to you from the ProjectDFC desk of Oreos and Caek, is the wonderful:
In which you will be choosing it, finding it and stitching it.
Now before you complain, "Oh mighty and wonderful Queen MagicalJoey, stitching is hard and needles are pointy, pricky and sharp," let me tell you that no pointy things are needed for this challenge...unless you count pencils!
What is this shiz oh Mighty Queen Jo?
May Mixup Madness follows a similar structure to the Cento poetic form.
You choose ONE musician/poet/band and use lines from various pieces of theirs.
You can't use more than one line from each piece.

Flash Prompt #16 - May 2018Welcome to Flash Prompt #16!
It's here: the final Flash Prompt before FFM 2018 descends (and indeed, perhaps the final Flash Prompt of all). Are you prepared? Well that makes one of us!
While we're all here, I'd also like to put out a general notice to all veteran Flash Fiction Month participants. Heads will be required for this coming July. That's right, heads of the scaly, fiction-centric variety. And the more heads the better. So if you feel like tossing your hat into the proverbial ring for Hydra-hood, kindly pay us a visit on The Official Flash Fiction Month Discord Channel (no sign-up required) or just send us a note and let us know that you're interested. If everything goes well, this will be my last post as Hydra. So let this ageing Squamata retire knowing that the community shall continue in safe hands, or there'll be no getting rid of me.
Not up to full head-hood? Other volunteers of a mor

I didn't mean to drop off the face of the dA!
I really didn't. It just happened.
I don't really like eclipse. It's needed and great for new artists, but it feels a little soulless and not designed for writers, which stopped me coming on. Luckily on the laptop it looks like you can switch back to old mode, which is comforting.
This current situation is definitely pulling me back here.
How is everyone coping with the Covid lock-down life? Are you even locked down? This is week 4 for us and I am also not working at the moment due to furlough. For a busy project manager that is hard! My kids are at home, husband is still working from home so just making the most of things and trying not t
If Writer-Workshop relaunched...
Hello
If WW relaunched, what would get you involved? Is it new prompts for new work, new prompts for current work, a chance to play with current work or just a chance to talk about your current work? Do you want feedback? Do you want to commit to something? Do you want to help shape this?
We are a very big group with very little interaction.
I am not making any fast promises, just a pondering at the moment which may turn into something. However it needs a bit of energy from you guys for anything to happen, so what would interest you?
Share your thoughts, spread the word. Eclipse may not make us fancy, but literature has always been about
2019 Horizon
Well I think I have finally recovered from the madness of Critmas. Only 11 months and we'll probably do it all again.
January is moving so quickly that it's odd to think that exactly a month ago today was Christmas day. Back to work, back to reality and wondering when my next break is!
The change you will all notice is that in a matter of days, I shall no longer be a CV.
I decided a while ago that it was time to move on and let someone else have a stab at it, but took time based on wanting to see what Eclipse held for lit and to ensure a well supported lit team were left behind. This will have been the end of almost 8 years (with a break b
Critmas: The Results.
8 years ago, I started a small community challenge to encourage people to offer a little bit of critique for their fellow deviants. Back then, it was a simple challenge with no team, no bonus games and a handful of awesome people participated. We were happy with the 100+ delivered in just 12 days. Fast forward to now and some individuals got more than our total in year one. This is crazy and I love it!
Just to put into perspective, here are the totals for the previous years:
2011- 120
2012- 120
2013- 158
2014- 366
2015- 206
2016- 917
2017- 1213
2018- 1375 critiques delivered.
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!

Glad to hear the exercise classes are going well. It's great that you are feeling positive about it all even if the weightloss side of it is slower than you'd like.
I had wondered if you were still playing Pokemon Go, so I guess this journal answers that. In case you are interested, we have a whatsapp chat for local players taht live this side of Derby. It's mainly focussed on meeting up for raids, but we also use it to post the odd rare spawn (or pokemon we know others are looking for) and talk about event news. You'd be more than welcome to join if you'd like, though obviously it's entirely up to you.
